Margaret McGilvray studied the Anthropology of Music at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She also studied piano under Tom Constantin- early keyboard player for The Grateful Dead. Her biggest influence was her grandmother, Florence McGilvray, who played ragtime piano in bars and dance halls. She currently produces and directs Spiral Light Productions, and plays in the alternative rock band Calamus.
